SHADED TAILS is a Himalayan cattery located 20 minutes east of Ottawa, Ontario , Canada. Owned and operated by Bonnie McNamara.

We are a Feline Leukemia / FIV negative cattery. We also test for PKD.

REFERENCES

In 1995, we owned 1 cat, a neutered male blue Persian named Smokey, who desperately needed a companion. That is when we purchased our first Himalayan, named Gizzie. She is a beautiful Tortie Point. Unfortunately, our Smokey passed away shortly after. We then needed a friend for Gizzie and I'm sure you know, the rest is history. Our numbers have grown considerably since then. Gizzie is now living in a pet home.

We have produced some pretty nice kittens, as you will see. We are more concerned with producing healthy kittens with great personalities and temperament, than we are in going after that perfect Himalayan look. We produce show, breeder and pet quality kittens. We are currently working with Grand Champion lines from Sandypaws, Chakebec, Playwickey, Demiara, Careyata, Karabel and many more.

Our cats/kittens are never caged and are very social critters. They live WITH us, surrounded by love and affection and it shows. All of our kittens have had their first shots, pedigrees and are registered with the CCA.( The Canadian Cat Association ) as well as the CFA ( Cat Fancier's Association ). They are well socialized from day 1. Each kitten is weighed every day for at least 8 weeks to ensure proper weight gain. During this time, they reside in our nursery where they have climbing posts and a castle with a slide to keep them entertained.

I have loved Himalayans for years and there are not many people that are doing what they love to do. Raising these beauties has finally become a reality for me.
